In my opinion the decision to relegate Vittoriosa Stars FC taken by the Board to Investigate Corrupt Practices came too late. How can a club, following the investment of no less than 14 new players including three foreign ones, be relegated to the 1st Division after playing only one Premier League match?

How is it possible that the MFA executive committee decided to change the format of the Premier League after the first matches have already been played? How can the result of Sliema Wanderers against the same Vittoriosa Stars (played on August 22) be declared null except for the disciplinary actions taken in the said game?

I am not contesting the decision taken by the board. I am only contesting the timing of the decision.

Why was the Premier League allowed to start when two serious cases involving two different clubs were still pending?

What will happen with the championship and relegation pool? What kept the board from concluding these cases earlier? What kept the MFA from postponing the start of the Premier League by a few weeks?

Here we are dealing with a professional tournament such as the Premier League not with an amateur contest between friends. Here we are dealing with presidents who invested their money in this competition. Here we are dealing with professional footballers including foreign players, among them Valletta's star Jordi Cruyff.

These are some of the questions the supporters are asking. I sincerely hope the MFA emerges out of this awkward situation as soon as possible.
