Maltese illusionist Vanni Pulé has just been awarded the much-coveted Howard Bamman Trophy for the second time.
The first time was in 2002 when he was presented with the gold-plated trophy for the best magical invention published in The Linking Ring (official journal of The ‘International Brotherhood of Magicians’) and this time it was for the best anthology of original tricks on the journal during 2008.
This 18-page anthology appeared in the February issue. The trophy was officially handed to the Maltese illusionist by the executive editor of The Linking Ring, Samuel Patrick Smith, during the Nashville Convention banquet in July 2009 at the Gaylord Opryland. This month, the same journal is publishing a series of articles by Vanni Pulé that is planned to go on for at least 12months.
During the same conference, attended by about 1,000 magicians from all over the world, Vanni was nominated as International President-Elect of this organisation that embraces about 12,000 members.
He will assume duties in July 2010 in San Diego, California, and, in July 2011, in Dallas, Texas, is in line to becoming International President.
Since its inception in 1922, the organisation known as the ‘International Brotherhood of Magicians’, has had, so far, 70 international presidents, of whom 65 were Americans, three English, one Canadian and one from New Zealand.
Vanni Pulé will be the first President from Europe, excluding Britain.
After Nashville he participated in another conference in Beijing, China, attended by 2,500 delegates and organised by the ‘Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques’ and that included the triennial Gran Prix of magic.
Pulé, who is also the president of the Malta Ring of the ‘International Brotherhood of Magicians’, will be judging an international magicians’ contest to be held in Southport, England.
