Four crates of milk and a ricotta container were sealed and seized by health inspectors from a grocery outlet in Marsascala early this morning.

An inspection is being carried out to ensure that dairy products are not kept at temperatures outside what is allowed by law.

The dairy products were left outside the shop, which had not yet opened, by the distributor.

Legal action will be initiated against the distributor and the retailer, who had recently been convicted of a similar offence.

The department thanked consumers who, in the past few days, lodged various complaints. It said all complaints were investigated to ensure food safety.
