The Powerade tournament was played at the Table Tennis Academy last week, bringing to a close all events at the Summer School this year.

Under the watchful eyes of Australian coach Edwin Cotter, together with Academy coaches Mario Genovese and Edward Baldacchino, the young players battled it out for the summer title.

Daniel Vella Fondacaro, in the Open event, Andrea Portelli, in the U-15, and Dylan Zammit, in the U-12 category, were the winners on the day.

Now that the Summer School has come to an end, the first weeks of September will be reserved for preparations ahead of the new season. The Academy is holding a five-day morning training camp as a round-up of all the points tackled during the summer.

The camp will be conducted by Steve Rowe, currently coach at Wigan Table Tennis Club in the UK.
