Maltese juniors at Belgium training camp

When five young golfers from the Millennium Golf Club in Belgium were hosted by the Royal Malta Golf Club last December, it was agreed that a reciprocal visit by Maltese juniors would take place this summer.

Recently, Chris Bergedahl, J.J. Micallef, Danny Holland and Luca Caruana, accompanied by Junior Golf Academy head David Debono, took part in a five-day training camp which culminated with them participating in a junior tournament at Ternesse Golf and Country Club.

It proved to be a most useful learning experience for the Maltese golfers and indeed a most satisfying one for Bergedahl who placed third overall with a score of six over par over the two days.

Micallef placed 13th as Holland and Caruana, who were playing their first competition on foreign soil, missed the cut.

Besides the tournament, the boys also had the opportunity to play two other championship courses while forging new friendships with junior golfers from Belgium.
