Toy lasers are being recalled by the standards authority because they may be harmful if pointed at the eye.

They could also produce an electric shock. The authority has instructed retailers to remove such toys from their shelves immediately as they will otherwise be confiscated.

It said consumers who owned any lasers should return them to the shop they bought them from.
