A 50-year-old motorist was charged with injuring a warden during a scuffle which broke out when the man was handed a fine for speaking on his phone while driving.

Joseph Falzon, who was driving along Mdina Road, Zebbug in front of St Dorothy's school on Thursday, was stopped by Senior Warden Sandro Muscat for allegedly driving while on the phone. The two men shook hands in court yesterday in a gesture of goodwill.

Mr Falzon is pleading not guilty to slightly injuring the warden, attacking him and resisting orders.

Magistrate Edwina Grima granted bail against a personal guarantee of €8,000.
