Rescue teams yesterday found the bodies of two Italian mountain climbers and one from Germany after they fell to their death in the Swiss Alps, police said.

The Italians, aged 46 and 62, had been missing since Tuesday but their bodies were discovered yesterday on the southwestern Lagginhorn mountain.

Preliminary inquiries had shown that the two men had been roped together when they fell around 200 metres, police said.

The 45-year-old German meanwhile was found dead after falling near the ski resort of Zermatt on Wednesday while he was with a group of five other compatriots trying to scale Mount Pollux.
