West Ham United have signed striker Alessandro Diamanti from Italian Serie A side Livorno for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League club said today.

Diamanti, 26, scored 18 goals from 37 matches last season and will boost manager Gianfranco Zola's striking options alongside Carlton Cole.

"I am very happy to be at West Ham United and to get the chance to play for Gianfranco Zola," Diamanti told West Ham's website (www.whufc.com).

"I chose West Ham because the club has the tradition of playing great football."
