Premier League club Qormi continued to strengthen their squad before the transfer window deadline on Monday with the signing of Brazilian striker Camilo Da Silva Sanvezzo.

Qormi had only recruited two foreigners for the 2009/10 season which got under way last week but now Camilo is likely to partner Nigerian Alfred Effiong in attack for the Yellows' next match on Sunday against Sliema Wanderers.

Qormi's other foreigner is Ramon Do Santos, another Brazilian. He was in Jesmond Zerafa's starting line-up against Floriana last weekend, a match that finished 1-1.

Qormi FC president said they had opted for Camilo after giving trial to various foreign players this summer.

"Camilo is still young and left a good impression during his trial period at the club," Fenech said, adding that the transfer was also completed thanks to the financial backing of sponsor Jesper's Bakery.

Camilo and Dos Santos played for Oeste Paulista in the league back home. Camilo also played for Corinthians Alagono before opting to accept Qormi's offer to play in the Maltese Premier League.

Meanwhile, Division One club Ħamrun Spartans continued to add more players to their squad with the signing of Jonathan Holland yesterday.

The 31 year-old defender, who played for Birkirkara last season, put pen to paper on a two-year deal. Holland is the sixth signing for the Spartans this summer who are seeking a return to the Premier League.

Delegates meet

Delegates from Premier League clubs met last night to discuss what measures, if any, they should take following the demotion of Vittoriosa Stars from the top flight and the MFA's decision to continue the championship with nine teams.

Clubs from Division One are also expected to hold a similar meeting today to see how the decision will affect their plans and schedule as the fight for promotion is likely to intensify with the addition of more teams in the championship that starts in November.

Discussion is set to continue on Monday in a Council Meeting at Ta' Qali.

Powerade Cup

The Powerade Cup tournament at the Victor Tedesco Stadium was won by Mqabba. In their last match on Wednesday, they beat bottom-placed Żebbuġ Rangers 1-0 to finish top of the standings with a maximum nine points.

Hosts Ħamrun Spartans finished second after a 3-1 win over Sta Venera Lightnings.
