Two alleged car thieves were this morning granted bail against a personal guarantee of 5,000 euros after pleading not guilty to stealing a Toyota Vitz from Triq il-Mensija, San Gwann last Tuesday.

Glenn Vella, 29 and Stephanie Micallef, 22, had allegedly parked their Skoda Favorit near the Vitz, which was open and had the keys in the ignition, and drove off.

But eyewitnesses called the police who apprehended the couple shortly afterwards.

Ms Micallef was also charged with driving without a license.

Mr Vella is a relapser.
