Web development company ICON has completed its revamp of the Phoenicia hotel's portal.

As one of Malta's oldest and most prestigious hotels, the Phoenicia needed a website to reflect its old world charm and character, while visually reflecting the product changes following the recent refurbishment and upgrading carried out earlier this year.

"When devising ideas for the redevelopment of the Phoenicia's site, we wanted to merge the old with the new," ICON director Ian Castillo explained.

"The site enjoys the latest cutting edge technology but it is also evocative of the style and panache that this hotel exuberates. The colours chosen reflect the new corporate identity, while the functional yet stylish layout of the site itself reflects the intimate luxury of this historic Art Deco hotel."

Phoenicia's general manager Charles Azzopardi said the hotel was continuously learning more about what clients sought from the website.

"The latest redesign included changes recommended through our customer research - more user-friendly navigation throughout the site, improvements on the booking pages, destination information, and a new section about the history of the hotel."

The site incorporates ICON.snap technology, which allows the hotel to keep the entire site regularly updated with changing information about special offers, in-house events, and even the latest news from Malta.

"We also incorporated ICON.e-news," added Mr Castillo, "an easy-to-use system that allows the creation of customised, rich-media newsletters to target the hotel's customers and to keep them in the loop. And with it now launched, the Phoenicia has a website that truly reflects the unique qualities that have been enjoyed by visitors to this hotel for decades."
