September 10-11, BIS/ECB Workshop, Monetary policy and Financial Stability
In cooperation with the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank is organising a workshop to discuss the role of monetary policy in both crisis management and crisis prevention. Bringing together central bankers and academics, the workshop will consider the effectiveness of monetary policy measures, the costs of boom/bust cycles, transmission channels of monetary policy during cycles, and the lessons of the current crisis for central bank strategies. The event will be held in Basel, Switzerland.

September 14-15, European Cities and the Global Climate Change Challenge
This Stockholm conference will address issues in relation to how sustainable urban development can be a part of meeting the challenges connected with climate change while contributing to the conversion to a low-carbon, green economy. The conference also continues the work of previous EU presidencies on sustainable urban development, in particular the initiative taken by the French presidency last year aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities.
