A mother, father and their three-year-old girl lost their life in a traffic accident in Zejtun this afternoon.
The family, who lived in Zejtun, have another child, a baby, who was with relatives. The father is 22 and the mother is 20.
The accident took place in Anton Buttigieg Road at around 4.50 p.m.
The police said that the fatalities were the result of a crash between a water bowser and three cars, one of which was extensively damaged.
The family, who died on impact, were in a black Toyota Starlet. The girl, the police said, was in the car's back seat.
They allegedly overtook two cars and crashed head-on into the bowser which dragged them some 30 metres into the wall in the opposite direction.
The bowser was driven by a 26-year-old man from Zabbar, a Toyota Corsa by a 28-year-old man from Marsaxlokk and a Volkswagen Golf by a 29-year-old woman from Gharghur.
The driver of the water bowser was taken to hospital suffering from shock.
