Cruise line to bring 170,000 visitors
Costa Cruises will next year sail to Malta 56 times between March 19 and September 24, bringing an estimated 170,000 passengers.
SMS Travel, the cruise line's local agents, said among the company's cruise liners stopping at Grand Harbour would be the Costa Pacifica, Costa Victoria, Costa Fortuna, Costa Serena, Costa Marina, Costa Allegra and Costa Mediterranea.
The Italian company has invested €22 million in three months in maintenance works aboard five of its ships. Energy and fuel-saving systems were installed.

This is encouraging news however, this figure is only an estimate based on full occupancy and does not reflect any confirmed advance bookings numbers.Moreoever, this figure cannot actually reflect how many passengers will disembark any vessel whilst in Malta nor, more crucially, how much revenue they will bring to the ailing economy whilst onshore. So this figure of 170,000 visitors may be dramatically reduced and more wished for than actually forthcoming, and such inaccurate figures ,at least virtually impossible to project accurately, should be taken and viewed pragmatically rather than optimistically.
