I endorse what my former teacher Prof. J.A. Muscat wrote about the Medical Council (The Sunday Times, August 16).

However, the logical updates which Prof. Muscat mentions at the end of his letter, and which I share with only one reservation, do constitute a radical reform. This radical reform is necessary and imperative.

The one reservation, which is more of an addendum to Prof. Muscat's five points, is the need to include a member of the judiciary, possibly a retired judge, on the Medical Council, who is still au courant with proceedings at the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice.
