In his days as a World Cup winning player it took something truly special to leave Osvaldo Ardiles gobsmacked but the Argentine ace, who also landed two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup, was pretty much speechless after capping a first visit to Malta last week with a surprise Sunseeker farewell cruise around Valletta's Grand Harbour.
Sunseeker Malta director Mike Lord and Sports Consultant Carly Barnes - Ardiles's representative during the visit - organised the trip aboard the classy vessel 'Never Say Never' which flew the Tottenham Hotspur flag in honour of its legendary guest.
Ardiles, who said he had "never been on a boat with such luxurious interior before", was joined by his wife Sylvia and friends.
They spent a relaxing day swimming in the crystal clear Maltese waters before cruising the Grand Harbour.
It was the perfect end to a busy week of public appearances and charity events which included a screening of football classic Escape to Victory and a visit to parliament to meet Malta's President.
"The trip around Grand Harbour was the icing on the cake of a glorious week for Ardiles who thoroughly enjoyed Malta and the Sunseeker experience," Barnes said.
In return for Sunseeker's gesture, Barnes has now invited Lord to White Hart Lane to watch Spurs.
