A man employed with Go Mobile yesterday admitted to stealing almost €2,300 worth of top-up cards from the mobile company.

Carmelo Zammit, 54, of Gżira pleaded guilty to stealing the top-up cards from two Go outlets in Paola and Gżira. "It was a mistake," defence lawyer Kris Busietta told Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna.

The prosecution told the court that Mr Zammit had returned the bulk of the vouchers but added that there were still €700 worth missing.

However, Dr Busietta said his client was ready to repay the remaining amount within a month.

Magistrate Apap Bologna pointed out that Mr Zammit had cooperated with the police and was a first-time offender before he conditionally discharged him for a year.

Police Inspectors Keith Arnaud and Anna Marie Micallef prosecuted.
