A 69-year-old woman was rescued by Civil Protection Department personnel after she fell into a well close to her residence in Mqabba, yesterday. Relatives raised the alarm at about 9 p.m. when they realised that the woman had wandered into a field that has a water reservoir with no cover, sources said.
The woman clung to some pipes until she was brought up. The sources could not describe her condition as she was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, but she was still conscious.
The rescue operation, which was carried out under the direction of Tony Parnis from the CDP, lasted just over half-an-hour.
