Update 2: Evacuated crewman dies

A 70-year old crewman from the locally registered fishing boat ''Stella Maris'' died in hospital after being urgently evacuated by an AFM Alouette rescue helicopter this morning when he fell overboard.
The man, from Zurrieq, was picked up by the fishing boat but lost consciousness. A rescue launch was sent to the scene to give assistance but a helicopter needed to be deployed to ferry him to hospital quickly.
He is understood to have recently undergone surgery.
