I am writing to express my disapproval towards the management of Splash & Fun Park. First of all, I must say that I have just returned from Sicily and went on a day visit to Etnaland, which is a kind of Splash & Fun on a much larger scale. The entrance fee was €24 compared to the €18 we paid in Malta but what a difference - not in the size of the park but the service.
In Sicily we paid for the tickets and within less than five minutes we were inside the park. I went to Splash & Fun on August 11. We arrived at about 10.45 a.m. The car park was already full, as usual the selfish Maltese drivers parking their car across two spaces. Then we had to wait for at least 20 minutes in the long queue. There are six ticket booths but only two were open. As one enters one can notice the shabbiness of the place.
In Sicily we were nine persons. An attendant came and organised our deck chairs and umbrellas. In Malta it is a free for all, getting deck chairs yourself if you find place! Thank God there was no electricity. I am saying this because the management decided to give the money back to the people who wanted to leave and the place got slightly less crowded.
The pool is too small for the amount of people that come to the park. There should be a limit. It is impossible to swim as it is totally overcrowded. There was no supervision by the pool - youngsters diving, playing with the ball, hitting other people.
As regards service to tourists and also to us Maltese people, we are still in the prehistoric age. One can feel the difference when we go abroad. I laugh when I hear people say that Sicilians are underdeveloped. Then what are we?
Someone may ask "why did you go there?". We went there as a group who were in Sicily a few weeks ago. But for sure this is the last time I visit Splash & Fun Park. For €18 one can go to the beach free of charge and spend that amount of money on a good meal.
