We have been to many holiday destinations around the world but Malta is the cherry on the cake. In just two weeks we were booked four times, on two occasions, early in the morning when most of the population are fast asleep. Traffic wardens and the police are there ready to pounce to dish out tickets on cars that are not obstructing traffic whatsoever. Yet, the vast amount of revenue collected from traffic fines is not channelled to the building or repair of roads, car parks and competent traffic management. How can the feeble Government of Malta allow such a situation when car parks are non-existent, with drivers going round in circles searching for somewhere to park? If it was not for the private enterprise who foresaw the need to provide adequate car parks at their hotels, the island would have come to a standstill long ago.

It would be very interesting if an MP tabled a question in Parliament asking the Prime Minister to state how much money was voted to provide car parking facilities around the islands. What is the Prime Minister waiting for to act? Will he take action when all the roads are so congested that the whole island will come to a halt. Will he take action when businesses start closing down due to clients staying away because of this serious situation? As for us, we will not visit Malta again, unless things improve.
