The Maltese embassy in Berlin has included Malta in the Berlin Buddy Bear travelling collection.

The exhibition consists of a large number of big Berlin buddy bears representing different countries. The exhibition travels to different countries and destinations, promoting the symbols and cultures of countries via their artistic impressions painted on a gesso Berlin bear.

This year the exhibition will visit countries like Azerbaijan and Japan.

The Foreign Ministry said the embassy negotiated the inclusion of the Malta Buddy Bear free of charge. The fee is normally € 2,200.

The embassy also secured the travel and accommodation costs for artist Adrian Abela, who was selected to paint and decorate the Malta Buddy Bear. This sponsorship was made possible thanks to the support of the MCCA, the Berlin Tourism Authority (BTA), the Berlin Plaza and the Grand Hyatt hotel in Berlin.
