11 drug arrests this weekend

The police arrested 11 people in connection with drug investigations over the Santa Marija weekend.

Nine were arrested on Saturday evening after drug finds during a party at Gianpula. Seven are men and two women, aged between 17 and 28 and residing in St Julians, Naxxar, Żabbar, Żejtun, Żurrieq and Paola. One is a Spaniard.

The police said they were found in possession of cannabis resin and cocaine. One person is being investigated for drug trafficking.

The other two people were arrested on Friday - a 36-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both from St Julians.

The man had been under observation for drug trafficking and was found in possession of a packet of heroin, the police said.
