Benjamin Fenech was recently awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton. The doctorate, fully funded by the UK EPSRC, was a collaboration between the School of Engineering Sciences and the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research.

Dr Fenech looked into more accurate ways of measuring noise from aircraft to assist manufacturers with a quieter design.

He also developed a microphone array system which is now being used for research and industrial work at the University of Southampton and at Airbus UK.

Furthermore, he participated in EU-funded research projects on aircraft noise, collaborating with leading experts from Germany, the Netherlands, France and the UK.

Dr Fenech also holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta and a Masters in Acoustical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
