The Nationalist Party has accused Joseph Muscat of practising a policy of special privileges after he defended the use of a rented government-owned property as a Labour Party club in Siggiewi.
The government, acting on a motion by Siggiewi council, has said it will not renew the lease of the club and transfer the property to the council for use as a day care centre for the elderly.
The PN said Dr Muscat wanted his party to continue to enjoy a privilege granted to his party 28 years ago by a Labour government.
It accused him of ignoring the needs of the people of Siggiewi.
The PN said the Labour Party was making use of a substantial number of rented public properties and even privately-owned properties taken over through requisition orders by Labour governments.
It asked if the PL was prepared to give up those properties so that they could be returned to public use or use by their private owners.
