If any of your readers had served in the British or Allied armed services or essential civilian services during World War II, I would like to hear from them. Over the past year or so I have been hearing from war veterans from across the UK, and I am now sending this appeal to Malta.
I would like to find out what their opinions are of the UK today and how they have found life since the end of the war and how they adjusted to life as civilians? Has there been enough support for veterans?
I am a freelance writer and plan to compile a book with their opinions of life in 2009 and their memories of war. Is it a disappointment or are they happy with how Britain has turned out? What do they think their fallen comrades would have made of life in 21st century Britain?
All opinions are welcome. Those interested should, if possible, provide some information about their war experience and most vivid memories, their views on the UK, their name, age, rank and regiment. It would also be interesting to hear why they moved to Malta and how they find living there. It would also be great to hear from any Maltese who have memories of Malta during World War II. Those who would not like their names to be published can remain anonymous. Letters can be sent to me at P.O Box 1110, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE99 2XL, UK. My e-mail address is njpringle@hotmail.com
