The nightmare which Maria Abela is going through (July 31) is not only in her area but literally all over the island. It seems to me that some of these language students are uncontrollable.

A few days ago a small group of students walking along the St Julians seafront early one morning decided to cross the road to the City of London bar and steal the Maltese flag. The next day my staff reported to me that a second flag had gone missing the night before. This time I decided to entwine wire around the rope and flag posts, making it extremely difficult to dislodge the flags.

When we went to open the bar the next morning we found out that the thieves, having difficulty in stealing the flag, broke the wooden flag post in half, leaving it on the pavement.

Now there is a CCTV camera in the area but its only purpose is to detect drivers parking their vehicles illegally.
