Shocking pink
A yachtsman had quite a shock on Monday when he found that his yacht had shocking-pink spray all over it.
The 55-foot Princess was berthed at Msida marina. It also had its cabin door padlocked and the keyhole stuffed with glue. The owner, Edward Cassar, has estimated the damage at €2,000.

@ Stephen Farrugia..."looks more like revenge"....... lol.You made me laugh there.
Certainly looks like vandalism to me.
And maybe the boat owner never did anything to justify this.

Doesn't look like a 'vandalist' act... looks more like revenge...
Yacht owner might have done something...

While sympathasing with the yacth owner I just want to remind everyone that when in the early nineties the Malta Maritime Authority offerred to put close circuit cameras on the pontoons, many of the owners voted against.......one wonders why

@ Mrs. Rita Carbone
I certainly agree with you on this one however, I've been to Austalia multiple times and your train stations and sub ways don't look too smashing hot either. Because of the size factor of Australia, this wouldn't make the news as so wouldn't a car accident (unless it's a pile up of around 60 cars on a major highway) unlike Malta which everything 'wrong' or 'bad' is slammed all over the news, in this case the internet. I can publish heaps of photo's of Australian train station's covereed in grafitti all over the web. That wouldn't reflecting a good image now would it?

it is sad that this now happens in malta. but thankfully an incident like this still makes major news, which hopefully means that this is not a common ocurrence. But i think it is just a sign of the times, and all the vandalism etc that you associate with citys all over the world sadly arrives in the best of places. even Malta. anyway, it will not stop me visiting malta, viva malta Robbie Ritchie

Now come on people who ever it was what in the name of your God is this all about, what good is this going to do except harming the insurances, and not so much the owner. Its stupid and irresponsible immature tosspots, but i suppose the is a way of life on the islands
beit monuments, trees and whatnot. Its Silly,i wonder what would happen if the shoe was on the other foot. I don't know the guy but judging by the photo its absolutely shameful and diabolical liberty on some individuals who ever they may be. * Maybe the Webcams and the secutrity camers installed* in the area will shed some light on the culprits.

This looks more like a personal hate attack however security at Msida Marina is a total joke. A friend of mine had his yacht broken into several times over the past years and it looks like things have not improved.

@ Luke Buttigieg
Secure??? How could they be secure?! The automatic gates taking to the piers are easily opened even by kids. EVERYONE can go and stroll on the private pontoons without anyone stopping them. The police office that was situated near the customs offices, toilets and showers have been pulled down altogether as these premises have been allocated to the Middle Sea Race. In the meantime, the Msida Marina berthers are paying for services which are not given properly to them.
Even wrote to MMA about this issue.... still waiting for a reply!!!
I was amazed by some comments send a couple of days ago to the bidding of the marina article. Owning a boat does not ultimately mean being a filthy rich person. I am sure that Mr. Cassar would prefer donating those EUR 2000 rather then give them to someone to clean this vandalism.
I am also sure that this action ruined the weekend for him and his family. Am terribly sorry for you!
