A man who admitted to seven thefts in three months and to arson was jailed for four years and three months.

Jesmond Cassar, 34, from St Paul's Bay pleaded guilty to stealing from seven different houses in three months and trying to set fire to a residence in Mqabba.

He also pleaded guilty to committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended sentence, driving without insurance and relapsing.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke jailed Mr Cassar for four years. She then jailed him for an additional three months because he committed a crime during a suspended sentence.

Police Inspectors Raymond Cassar and Jeffrey Cilia prosecuted. Lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores appeared for Mr Cassar.
