A private contractor this morning damaged a 600mm main pipe in Pembroke, cutting the water supply to Sliema, St Julians, Gzira and Msida, the Water Services Corporation said.

It said its engineers had managed to restore service by re-routing the supply.

The corporation is to hold the contractor liable for damages. It apologised for the inconvenience caused to clients.
