During a recent press conference near Wignacourt Tower, did Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said take a look around him and see the state the area is in?

Although it is not the fault of the authorities that the place is untidy, it is the duty of the same authority to ensure that it does not become that way and make provisions to keep it tidy.

As a citizen, I have the duty to bring to notice any wrongdoings and it should be up to the authorities to take the right action.

Every effort has to be made to try to keep Malta tidy as a whole.

Cleanliness is not about removing any litter; that is easy. The pavement should be well washed at least once a week in promenades where there is an abundance of food and drinks droppings.

In other European countries food establishments are called upon to keep tidy a radius of 15 metres to 20 metres outside their establishments.
