Alexander Tranter was recently presented with a Board Citation in recognition for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the International Association for Homes and Services for the Ageing, during his term as chairman of the organisation. The award was presented at the eighth international IAHSA conference held in London by Larry Minnix, CEO of IAHSA.
While in London, Mr Tranter, acting as IAHSA chairman, also had the opportunity to address both the opening and closing plenary sessions of the eighth international conference which attracted over 700 delegates from 34 countries around the world.
Mr Tranter said: "I am extremely proud to have received this Board Citation from IAHSA in recognition of my contribution towards the field of aging services and older persons. Being elected as the first Maltese to chair this international organisation has truly been a memorable and rewarding experience for me. It has also given me the opportunity to promote to the international scene all the very valid work done locally in the field of caring for elderly persons. Malta is extremely well positioned in this regard."
IAHSA, based in Washington DC, is the largest global aging network reaching more than 25,000 aging service providers across over 40 countries. Mr Tranter's term as IAHSA chairman ends in December.
