Maltese travellers drop by 2.7% in June
The number of Maltese going abroad reached 24,927 in June, a drop of 2.7 percent compared to June 2008.
As usual, most Maltese travelled to EU destinations. The 25-44 age bracket accounted for the majority of travellers.
The number of Maltese going abroad in the first half of the year reached 127,796 a marginal increase over the corresponding period last year. Of these 87.2 percent travelled to EU destinations, the most visited countries being the UK and Italy.
Nearly 60 percent of the travellers were male.

Its lower then expected, wait till the kiddies are back at school. MIA will be virtually diserted, well it is now really, we were surprised as how empty the place looked . Its a shame really for such a nice clean and passenger friendly Airport.

wow, i thought the drop would be higher. lately i have been hearing a lot of people who did not plan to travel this summer (i even talked to some people who cancelled their trip, thus losing the deposit's money) because of swine flu and recession. therefore, i think the drop is lower than expected.
