Heritage Malta puts off convoy commemoration
Heritage Malta has postponed a commemoration due to have been held tomorrow to recall the Santa Marija convoy.
The event was to have been held at the War Museum and would have included food of the type served from wartime Victory Kitchens.
Heritage Malta did not say when the event will be held, or why it had been put off.
Several timesofmalta.com readers had complained about prices.

Last sunday I took some foreign guests to see Ggantija Temples. We were charged Euro 8.00 each at the entrance but then left to wonder alone without anyguide whatsoever. It was so disgusting that I decided that I will never again suggest visits to places run by Heritage Malta to my guests.

I'm alway reminded on setting foot into one of the many Supermarkets here in the Maltese Isands and having got through the fruit and vegitables that are grown here on a rapidly reduced Agricultural table due to land given over to building, and being reminded that after the vegitable section, just about everything after is imported? How would Malta survive? In a crisis, Don't forget Malta, History in all its forms, can repeat itself!! Enjoy your Bubbliata...

I was the first to complain when the news was carried on this site over a week ago. €20 for 'Stuffat tal-majjal' and a glass of wine was ridiculous.
Heritage Malta needs a real upheaval, at least where 20th century heritage is concened.

Why should your readers complain about prices? If they dont like them, stay away from the activity and not incite others about not going. Hats off to Heritage Malta for cancelling this activity. That is what they deserve but alas, those really interested in heritage, have been sacrificed for the egoism of the readers who complained. Any extra cent was to be used by Heritage Malta for the maintenance of its sites. So much for the readers' altruism. Complaining about the price of a drink. shame on them. And then they have the gull of chastising this and that authority for not embarking on the preservationof our heritage. Just tpatpit. words without actions.

The food would have reflected the wartime realities.
The price did not.

It is a shame that such a commemoration event had to be cancelled, however apart from the price which unfortunately puts it beyond many families there is a serious problem at the War Museum ‘The Heat’ it is absolutely unbearable I visited on Monday and people were nearly passing out, there’s no air conditioning or any fans. It was as hot inside as outside.
