As part of the celebrations of the feast of Santa Maria, St Mary's Band Club of Għaxaq put up a magnificent concert on August 7, which had a number of very good local rock musicians preceding the main attraction - Queen Tribute Band Rhapsody UK.

The crowds that invaded the normally sleepy little village of Għaxaq were received with a very warm Maltese welcome; the whole organisation was first class. The local acts warmed the crowds to a crescendo in preparation for Queen, who certainly lived up to the expectations of those assembled. Their repertoire included most hits of the original Queen band; these were preformed with great gusto.

Jim Devereaux was a worthy Freddie Mercury - he was amazing. He sung continuously for nearly two hours in the extreme heat of the evening, at times building the audience to a frenzy.

Thank you St Mary's Band Club for an unforgettable concert, and for your extremely admirable gesture of choosing Puttinu Cares as the main charity to benefit.
