New Malta football national coach John Buttigieg and his assistant Carmel Busuttil have reduced their squad to eighteen players ahead of Wednesday's friendly against Georgia.

The squad is now formed up of the following players: - Goalkeepers: Andrew Hogg - Valletta FC, Mario Muscat - Hibernians FC.

Defenders: Andrei Agius - Cassino (ITA), Ian Azzopardi - Sliema Wanderers FC, Alexander Muscat - Sliema Wanderers FC, Brian Said - Marsaxlokk FC, Kenneth Scicluna - Valletta FC.

Midfielders: Gilbert Agius - Valletta FC, Shaun Bajada - Birkirkara FC, Roderick Briffa - Valletta FC, Clayton Failla - Sliema Wanderers FC, Ryan Fenech - Sliema Wanderers FC, Jamie Pace - Valletta FC, Kevin Sammut - Valletta FC.

Forwards: Andrew Cohen - Hibernians FC, Michael Mifsud, Andre Schembri - SK Karnten (Austria), Ivan Woods - Sliema Wanderers FC.

The MFA said in a statement that it expects the Maltese public to give its support to John Buttigieg and Carmel Busuttil in their first outing at home.

Malta's next encounters are:Malta vs. Georgia 12/Aug/2009; Malta vs. Cape Verde 04/Sep/2009; Malta vs. Sweden 09/Sep/2009; Angola vs. Malta 10/Oct/2009 and Portugal vs. Malta 14/Oct/2009.
