The Westin Dragonara Resort was recently nominated by the US Embassy for the 'Secretary's Award for Corporate Excellence'. The embassy's Charge d'Aiffaires, Jason Davis, presented the Westin Dragonara Resort's general manager Michael Kamsky with a certificate in honour of the nomination.
The award was established in 1999 and honours corporate social responsibility, innovation, exemplary business practices and democratic values worldwide.
It recognises contributions which businesses make to improve the quality of local and global communities. Past winners include multinational, as well as small-to-medium enterprises.
During the ceremony, Mr Davis said that "corporate responsibility and socially responsible growth are vital to US efforts to improve the health of our planet, the rights of workers and the strengthening of best practices in the business community."
Mr Davis noted that the Westin Dragonara Resort is one of Malta's leaders in sustainable practices. Its 'Green Room Program', whereby guests can participate in conservation efforts by reducing water and electricity usage, has had a positive impact on Malta's environment and sends a strong message of corporate responsibility.
