A former grocery store assistant received a one-year conditional discharge yesterday after admitting to stealing almost €2,300 worth of items from the shop.

Ryan Attard, 20, from Valletta, pleaded guilty to stealing the items from Simpatia Crai in Gżira between March and August. Prosecuting Inspector Keith Arnaud said that although Mr Attard sold all the stolen items, the police had managed to recover most of them - except for 250 packets of cigarettes worth around €1,095.
