The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, in conjunction with the Għaqda Ħbieb tal-Presepju (Malta), is organising a course on crib-building for Christmas.

The course will be run by Friends of the Crib secretary Charles Bellia every Saturday between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m. for 10 consecutive weeks at the society premises at Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta, starting in October.

The sessions will include an introduction, history and evolution of the crib in Malta, planning design, style, perspective, proportions and materials, frame, planned buildings, additional items, rubble walls, manufacturing accessories, such as palm trees, doors, gates, lanterns etc, colouring, lights installation and also how to make pasturi (figurines).

The sessions are all practical, with hands-on experience with a crib built at the end of the course. Participants will be advised on the first day what material will be required.
