Boy, 13, crushed by van

A 13-year-old boy from Mosta was in critical condition last night after being crushed against a wall by a moving driverless van.

The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. at a service station in Tal-Balal Road, Naxxar.

Initial police investigations revealed that an idling van without a driver had started moving forward and the boy was caught between the van and a wall. The boy was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where it was found that he had suffered several fractures and was in danger of dying. He was undergoing additional tests.

Magistrate on duty Jacqueline Padovani was informed and nominated a number of court experts to help in her inquiry.
