As the world mourns the legendary Michael Jackson, his music will revive the enthusiastic support of his followers during a tribute concert at the Valletta Waterfront August 29 from 8 p.m.
An interesting line-up of Maltese artistes and bands will interpret favourite songs from Jackson’s wide repertoire.
Artists confirmed to perform on the night include Ira Losco, Kristina Casolani, Melissa from Chasing Pandora, Sophie, Brendan from Eve Ransom, Niki Gravino, Matt from Red Electrick, Errol from Airport Impressions, Marvic Lewis from Indigo, Chris and Jeff from Cable 35, Nick and Sarah from No Snow No Alps, backing by a professional choir and more surprises on the night.
Tickets cost €5 each and proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Saint Lazarus Foundation, helping the MMDNA (Malta Memorial District Nurses Association) the Tiny Infants Parents Support Group and separately the Muscular Dystrophy Group. A limited number of VIP tickets will also be available.
A special book of condolence will also be present at the event for the public to sign. This book of condolence will then be sent to the United States and to Michael Jackson’s family with special help from the US Embassy in Malta.
Xfm events manager Lee Nicholson said: “The world was hurting when the news broke about Jackson’s death; we would like to pay tribute to a man who gave us so much and affected so many people with his music.”
Additional parking will be made available on the night at the MCP car park in Floriana. There will be direct access from the car park to the Valletta Waterfront through the adjoining tunnel.
The concert is coordinated by Xfm 100.2 in collaboration with the Valletta Waterfront.
