Alfred Farrugia 44 of Qormi was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to allegedly attempting to seriously injure police inspector Ramon Mercieca in Hamrun at 12.50 a.m. yesterday.

Mr Farrugia was also accused of attacking the inspector, being in possession of a sharp and pointed instrument, disobeying police orders, breaching the peace and committing a crime while he was on a suspended jail term.
