Rebecca Gomperts, who once upon a time led "the women on waves" ship, has given up.
The now mother of two since 10 years ago has finally realised that more pregnant women than not, do not want to have an abortion.
Once upon a time this "captain of death" thought it was her divine right to terminate the lives of unwanted babies. Today, albeit with the help of those anti-abortion activists who gathered outside her hotel room when she came to Malta and lighted candles for her "conversion", besides offering prayers, she has decided to call it a day where performing abortions is concerned.
I for one cannot judge the woman who imagined a future of a fleet of ships laden with a monstrosity of equipment ready to end the lives of unwanted babies, just like I cannot judge those women who actually had the abortions performed on them, but I do have the personal right to admit that the lives of thousands of babies in their mother's womb are going to be a little safer with Mrs Gomperts not around.
