GWU welcomes government statement on Cola
The General Workers' Union has welcomed Finance Minister Tonio Fenech's statement that no unilateral action on the cost of living adjustment (Cola) would be taken but any changes had to be agreed upon between the social partners.
The union said that the mechanism of how Cola was calculated had been agreed upon by the social partners and also calculated the effects of burdens companies could suffer.

What agreement stipulates that pensioners should get 2/3 of the COLA?
As for getting full COLA you only get it for one year.
As if the cost of living for pensioners is reduced again once the year is up.
This is apart from the DISCRIMINATION where MP's get an UNCAPPED pension equivalent to 2/3 of the CURRENT salary of MP's while the lesser mortals among us who are considered as children of a lesser God have to do with a capped pension and can never be 2/3 of the current wage/salary of the post from which the pensioners retire.
This is DISCRIMINATION by those who at every election come to ask us for our votes.
Are they going to fix this DISCRIMINATION before they again come to ask us for our votes?

Employers and Chamber of Commerce do not agree to give whole COLA to employees. Does this decision mean that there will be no agreement regarding COLA and the government will have to decide.
Careful about P.N. government decisions! They may not be as innocent as they sound.

@ G Scerri the agreement stipulates that Pensioners get 2/3rds of the cost of living increase but Government, for the past 2 years, decided to give it in full.

It's time to calculate the effects of burdens families have been suffering, like e,g, water and electricity tariffs (Taxes), gas and fuel increases, etc. etc.

Does this "agreement" apply to the way pensioner's needs are calculated?
