President George Abela this afternoon expressed his sadness at the loss of cyclist Cliff Micallef in a traffic accident last week and offered encouragement to his colleagues ahead of the LifeCycle Challenge, due to start on Thursday.
The cyclists today took a break from their final preparations to call on Dr Abela at San Anton Palace.
LifeCyle chairman Alan Curry said the group had lost a very close friend and had gone through a difficult period, but with the backing of the Micallef family, the group was now looking ahead at the fund-raising challenge, which would see them cycle between Istanbul and Damascus.
The group raises funds for renal patients and their treatment.
