A photo taken by UEFA freelance photojournalist Domenic Aquilina at the end of the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, has been chosen by UEFA's marketing partners to represent Liverpool on a specially-designed backdrop.

The banner will be on display in the VIP Champions Club area at Anfield in all the Champions League matches Liverpool will play at home this season.

The selected photo shows Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hoisting the Champions League trophy after the Reds' extraordinary win over Milan in the 2005 final.

"Your picture was chosen to represent a particular club (and will be shown only at that particular club - in this case in Liverpool) for at least three matches and at the most six matches, depending on how well Liverpool will do in the competition," TEAM Marketing AG wrote to Aquilina.

In a short statement, Aquilina said he wanted to dedicate this image to his late nephew Daniel Aquilina who passed away recently.
