Maltese doctor receives award

Andrew Cassar has received the 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in the US.

Only four residents each year are honoured with this award, which recognises excellence in the internal medicine residency programme.

Dr Cassar is a graduate of the University of Malta. He completed his three-year internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic last June, at which time he assumed a Cardiology fellowship position at Mayo.
