With reference to Cynthia Busuttil's article 'Better prosthetic breasts' (The Sunday Times, July 12), I would like to point out the following: a report regarding the current type of prosthesis available through the Department of Health was presented to Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Joseph Cassar on April 30. To date, no acknowledgement or reply has been received.

Action for Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) considers it to be in the interest of women needing a breast prosthesis to know that they are represented on the board which decides which prostheses are provided. ABCF trust that they will be informed by the Ministry for Social Policy regarding any decision in relation to upgrading of breast prostheses.

The spokesman for Dr Cassar who was quoted in the above-mentioned article could not have made a worse comparison. Putting spectacles on par with a breast prosthesis! Please show a little sensitivity - believe me there is no comparison.
