After a detailed analysis of the interview with Victor Scerri in relation to the sordid debacle of the planning application for the reconstruction of a farmhouse in Baħrija, it would, in the interests of clarity and transparency, be most enlightening if Dr Scerri could expound upon some aspects of this application and his political status, which remain opaque at this time.

Primarily, he apparently resigned his post as president of the general council of the Nationalist Party in order to be in a position to pursue the defence of his role throughout this application process as a private citizen. Yet, I put it to him that he has failed to qualify or disclose his present role and function within the PN, if any, which remains undefined and, therefore, casts a giant shadow on his ability to challenge his accusers in this matter solely as a private citizen.

Furthermore, again in the interests of clarity, it would be interesting to learn as to why, when this planning permission application was originally submitted back in the year 2000, it was done bearing his wife's name as the applicant and, moreover, applied for under her maiden name.

I venture to suggest that swine flu is the least of our worries as when comparisons are made to the virulence of the true pandemic permeating our high-ranking public officials and big businesses - that of arrogant greed - it pales into insignificance.

For it is apparent that everybody's culpability somehow becomes nobody's fault and, to coin a phrase, much will always demand more!
